The Chapel of the Holy Cross, stands in the same spot since 1956. Local rancher and sculpture Marguerite Brunswig Staude first had the idea to build a chapel with architect Frank Lloyd Wright in the early 1930s in Budapest, Hungary, but the start of World War II thwarted their plans. Eventually they agreed on the current location on the Coconino National Forest, and the dream became a reality. It is now an area icon and one of the top wedding venues in Sedona.
